Today we are very excited to introduce version 6.10.1 of PDFTron's Android PDF SDK . This release includes new measurement tools, point snapping API, annotation list sorting, and much more. This blog post will go through the major changes in 6.10.1. For the full list of changes, please head over to our changelog for PDFTron 6.10.1 for Android .

Measurement tools

Measurement annotations can be used to calculate the physical size of a location in the document, for example in construction blueprints. You can set a scale so that, for example, one inch on the document corresponds to ten feet in real life and display this on the document.

This release includes updated distance annotation tool with more conversion units as well as ability to define precision. In addition, two new annotation tools are added: perimeter annotation tool and area annotation tool. We're planning to add more of these tools in future releases and we'd love to hear your feedback about what you're most interested in.

Note that when saving the PDF the measurement information is embedded in the document and will work with any other PDF viewers that support measurement annotations.

Point snapping API

Snapping is useful when you want to precisely place annotations in documents by snapping them to lines & objects. We condense the document geometry into a structure that's optimized for fast lookups, enabling realtime snap-to-point behaviour in the viewer.

Annotation list sorting

You can now sort the annotations in the annotation list by either creation date or position. This allows you to easily find annotations on the list.
