Today we are excited to introduce new APIs to the PDFTron SDK for Android for creating file attachment or sound annotations, pasting an image as a stamp annotation from the system clipboard, and more.

linkFile attachment annotation tool

A file attachment annotation contains a reference to a file that is embedded inside the PDF. For example, you could attach the original .docx file to the converted PDF file as a reference, or attach an XML invoice to the PDF invoice (also known as a ZUGFeRD invoice).

A sound annotation behaves like a sticky note except that instead of a text note, it contains sound recorded from the microphone. By default, it has a speaker icon to indicate that it represents a sound. Sound annotations can be useful when you want to create a note fast. For example, you may want to leave notes when you are out in the field and notice something important, or you simply prefer to speak rather than typing.

linkPasting an image from System clipboard

Android supports copying image files from the System clipboard (ex. the Files app). With PDFTron SDK, you can now paste the copied image file as stamp annotation anywhere on the document you are reading. The image can be pasted either through the Ctrl+V keyboard shortcut or the paste option in the long press quick menu.
